Welcome to the Bluff
White Bluff Music is moving in on the our first anniversary.  The welcome and support from our community has been awesome.  Love to our friends and customers who've made this first year a great success.

And indeed we are moving - across the street - to the former antique store, next to Paul's Pizza.  We're sketching out the layout now.  Some things you can expect are a stage area, classrooms for our fabulous range of instructors, and an expanded retail store.  You'll also find a gallery of music related gifts and handcrafted items featuring jewelry from Nashville Restrung.

We're aiming at our anniversary party in the new space in conjunction with the annual Main Street Festival on October 9, 2010.  Plan to attend!

Steven Brooks - Drums

Steve plays drums, sings lead and harmony vocals, and plays mandolin.   Originally from the New England area, Steve studied drums with the great Alan Dawson, and continued at the University of New Hampshire with one of Alan's previous students, Les Harris Jr.   Steve received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Percussion Performance at the University of New Hampshire, were he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Awarded a teaching assistantship at the University of Southern California, he earned his Master’s Degree in Jazz Studies, and received USC’s annual “Jazz Studies Departmental Award” Upon graduation.

Steve grew up on country rock, and enjoys playing all kinds of roots music. Steve is an accomplished performer in a wide variety of musical traditions, ranging from Jazz, Latin, and Funk, to Rock, Country, and the Blues. He has performed with such jazz greats as Eugene Wright, Clark Terry, Sheila Jordan, and Milt Hinton, among many others. His freelance work includes extensive studio experience as a drummer, singer, mandolin player, and co-producer, and his work in musical theater encompasses many Broadway shows - Godspell, Little Shop of Horrors, and Oliver.

With years of experience teaching a concentration on drums, Steve recently moved to Nashville to focus his energies here.  Did a bunch of studio work and really loved it, which was (among several other reasons) a big reason for his move to Nashville.   He has shared his experience with students ranging from elementary through college levels at Pasadena City College, and at his home studio.
